In urban areas, cats’ territories are greatly reduced and often overlap.
The population density of cats now is much greater than for the African wildcat so infectious diseases are more easily spread between cats.
Preventative medicine, for example vaccinations, neutering, flea control and worming treatments, plus enhanced nutrition are now available so longevity is increased.
Did you know that cats that are shedding infectious organisms don’t always show symptoms of the disease? These are called asymptomatic carriers. Asymptomatic means showing no symptoms and it is possible for these cats to pass infectious organisms to another cat.
